Wage Theft

What is Wage Theft?

Wage Theft is the illegal underpayment and non-payment of workers’ wages, affecting millions of workers each year. It is a nationwide epidemic, particularly affecting those in the low wage labor market. Wage Theft occurs when:

    · Employees are paid less than minimum wage

    · Employees are not paid for their overtime work

    · Employees do not receive all their tips

    · Employees are misclassified as “independent contractors” and denied overtime pay

    · Illegal deductions are made from paychecks
